We successfully managed the conversion of an existing office/canteen space into purpose-built laboratories for medical supplies with offices and a dedicated external plant services area. Works included a full strip-out and reconfiguration of the space, to include enclosing a previously open terrace, and fit-out of specialist production/testing laboratories with service upgrades. A key requirement was to carry out the works on the top floor while the remainder of the building remained fully occupied, ensuring that existing operation lines continued uninterrupted for the live manufacturing facility on the lower floors. At the same time, strict programme deadlines had to be maintained to align with a critical product line transfer from the US to the UK. Our role covered surveys, design coordination, tendering, contract administration, and compliance oversight.
A key challenge was integrating all systems, including the specialist medical compound and core services, so they operated seamlessly. Staff training was delivered while contractors were on site, enabling early operational readiness. The project ultimately provided the client with a fully operational facility for the transfer of a specialist medical process.
