I head our Chester office and lead our Insurance and Expert Witness teams.
As my early career was spent in architectural and cost consultancy practices, I have a solid grounding in the technical and contractual aspects of the construction industry.
Over this time I have also fulfilled the roles of Planning Supervisor, CDM Coordinator and Principal Designer under successive forms of CDM Regulations from the original 1994 statute. I am also the Secretary of the North-West branch of the P&T Club, which seeks to advance knowledge of party wall legislation and procedure and to promote best professional practice in its application.
I have overseen in excess of 400 property claims and disputes.
Experience
- Lead designer and contract administrator for:
- repair and refurbishment of industrial units, North West, £350,000
- refurbishment of careers advice centre, Nottingham, £500,000
- Team leader for insurance reinstatement cost assessments for 5m sq.ft property portfolio, across UK, £850m
- Numerous expert witness appointments (both as Party Appointed Expert and Single Joint Expert), acting for both claimants and defendant
- Regularly appointed (70+ appointments) as party wall surveyor acting for both building owner and adjoining owner as well as agreed surveyor
- Pre-acquisition survey of shopping centre and advising on sums required to rectify defects present, Nuneaton, £20m
- Monitoring surveyor on behalf of fund for rectification works to shopping mall, £1m
- Employer’s agent for:
- construction of factory and head quarter offices for healthcare company, Sutton-in-Ashfield, £4.5m
- construction of luxury one-off houses and small estates, North West, circa £6m
- Project management of major loss insurance reinstatement contracts for fire & flood, nationally, £100k to £1.5m
